Ask Vickie Thompson, dispensary operations director in clinical affairs, to reflect on her 25 years at Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry and one thing comes to her mind: people.
Thompson says the faculty, staff and students at the college are what she enjoys most about her job.
“When former students call to wish you a happy birthday or write to you from Iraq, or faculty tease you about when they were students, then what more can one say than ‘it’s the people,’” she says.
Thompson’s longevity has enabled her to see two generations of families come through the college.
“When you start to see the children of former dental students begin the journey their parents took through these halls, it brings back memories and you wonder where the time went,” she says.
Thompson says she’s stayed at the college all these years “because Baylor has been good to me and for me.”
