Dr. Ann McCann
Dr. Ann McCann joined Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry in 1988 as a clinical associate professor in dental hygiene. Today she still teaches but has expanded her duties as director of planning and assessment in academic affairs.
McCann leads the college’s planning and assessment committee. Her responsibilities in academic affairs are a favorite part of her job. McCann says she is given “independence to pursue research interests and encouragement to engage in state-of-the-art planning and assessment.”
Another reason McCann has stayed at the college for 20 years is the opportunity she had to pursue doctorate education and other professional development. She says her family was always very supportive of her going back to school to earn her doctorate.
McCann teaches and mentors graduate students at HSC-BCD. She was named Teacher of the Year in 1993, her favorite memory in her time at the college.
In her free time, McCann enjoys painting and collecting antiques, especially jewelry.
