Martha Byrd, clinical accounting assistant in the Office of Clinical Affairs, has served at Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry since 1983.

When she joined the staff, Byrd was a dispensing technician in the college’s third floor clinic. Celebrating Christmas with the clinic is one of her favorite memories at the college. She remembers how the staff would have a spread for the students, and former co-worker Margaret Hawkins would make “her fabulous sausage and cheese rolls.”

This type of interaction with the students and her co-workers is what Byrd says she enjoys most about her job.

Currently, her primary duty is to help the students and patients with payments for procedures.

“I work with a wonderful group of people whom I admire and respect,” she says.

Outside work, Byrd enjoys activities with her church and “quality time” with her family. Her son, Darius, is a sophomore at Texas Tech University.
