|HSC President Dr. Nancy W. Dickey
honors BCD's Betty Hagins for 35 years of service to the college.
Texas A&M Health Science Center President Dr. Nancy W. Dickey was at the dental school Jan. 9 to present the 2008 HSC Service Awards.
Employees received recognition for their service based on years of employment. Employment milestones were celebrated in increments of five years. In all, 54 employees were recognized. Betty Hagins, executive assistant in the office of finance, was honored for 35 years of service – the greatest longevity of any honoree. Each award recipient received a service pin and a gift along with words of gratitude from Dickey and Dr. James S. Cole, HSC-BCD dean.
This event marked the first time since the college merged with the A&M System that employee service has been recognized by the HSC in a formal manner. Previously, the college has celebrated employee milestones independently. Dickey said she plans to continue this new tradition annually on each of the HSC component campuses.
“It is a tremendous duty to recognize people for their longevity,” says Dickey. “It takes a huge team of people to train tomorrow’s health professionals.”
