Student members of the HSC-Baylor College of Dentistry and UT Southwestern Medical School chapters of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations participated in Operation Christmas Gift 2007, an event sponsored by the nonprofit organization Operation Care-Dallas. The annual event was held at the Dallas Convention Center Dec. 15.
CMDA students have participated in this event every year, which is specifically held for the homeless and working poor of North Texas. Dr. Stanton Cobb, associate professor in restorative sciences and the CMDA Dallas director, and his wife and daughter along with Dr. George Cramer, assistant clinical professor in restorative sciences and HSC-BCD’s CMDA student sponsor, also volunteered at the event.
“We did screening exams and referrals, determining dental needs and directing patients to where they can get medical care,” says Cramer. “We also had prayer times with many of the patients upon their request.”
