ADEAassist needs volunteers March 28-29. The American Dental Education Association’s annual session will be held March 29 – April 2 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. A couple of “ADEAassist” activities will occur at that time for which volunteers are needed. Members will be working with a food bank and soup kitchen on Friday, March 28, and with a Dallas public school to do a clean-up project on Saturday, March 29.  HSC-BCD students, faculty and staff are all welcome and encouraged to participate. If you are interested in either of these opportunities, contact Leeanna Bartlett at Ext. 8353.

The Student National Dental Association needs walkers to participate in the first Dallas SNDA Oral Cancer Walk April 26. ZIPs wants your blood. The ZIPs dental fraternity and Carter Blood Care will be holding a blood drive March 26 in the sixth floor lobby from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The procedure takes only a short time and can be completed between classes or dental appointments. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate. Donors can register throughout the month and also sign up to become repeat donors. Contact Sharon Limes, college health nurse, at Ext. 8253 to register.

Donors can give blood every 56 days and plasma can be taken every 28 days. Information on how donated blood is stored and used can be found at the Carter Blood Care website (http://www.carterbloodcare.org/blooduse.aspx).

Submission deadline for the March 2008 issue is Feb. 22.  Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to submit professional and personal news for publication in the Baylor Dental Record Online, HSC-BCD’s online newsletter. The coffee bar offers a variety of drinks including coffee, tea, latte, espresso, frappuccino, smoothies and more. A percentage of the proceeds benefits HSC-BCD Student Council projects. The college’s centennial history book is for sale in Room 522.  Baylor College of Dentistry: The First 100 Years includes great historic pictures of early dental school days and stories that you've never heard before. Obituaries

Condolences to the family of Sharon Limes, college health nurse, whose mother-in-law, Virginia Limes, passed away Jan. 21. Services were held Jan. 25 in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Dr. Uwe Frohberg, professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery, who passed away Jan. 24. Services were held in Germany, followed by a memorial service in Dallas.

Sympathy is offered to the family of Leeanna Bartlett, assistant professor of public health sciences and director of social services, whose mother, Ione Hooker, passed away Jan. 30. Services were held Feb. 2 in Terrell, Texas.

Condolences are extended to the family of Brigitte Wallaert-Sims, administrative assistant in communications and development, whose mother, Eva Wessel, passed away Jan. 30.

Condolences to the family of Kay Egbert, director of student financial aid, whose father-in-law passed away Feb. 4.
