Announcements - Dec 08/Jan 09
The Baylor College of Dentistry Alumni Association's 2009 Homecoming Reception is planned for Jan. 23 at 5 p.m., which coincides with the Southwest Dental Conference. The reception will be at the Adolphus Hotel in downtown Dallas. Attendees can visit with friends and fellow alumni and view the presentation of the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Awards to Peggy Ward Countryman '57 and Dr. Tom McDougal '64. The event's attire is business casual and a cash bar will be available. For more information, see www.bcdalumni.org.
Dr. Clifford Houston from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston will speak at the college at 11:45 a.m. Feb. 17 in Room 605. Houston is the associate vice president for educational outreach and a professor in the microbiology department. His speaking engagement is sponsored by HSC-BCD's Student National Dental Association in recognition of Black History Month. Houston's presentation is open to faculty, staff, students and the public.
Residents and faculty: donate your old water baths or parallometers for current students to use. The restorative sciences department is asking faculty and residents to donate their water baths, Ney surveyors and parallometers they used during school so that current students can use them in the preclinical removable prosthetics course. The donated items are tax deductible and donors will receive a receipt for each item donated. Dr. Sandra McCarthy is taking the donations and will provide the receipts. For more information, contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cookbooks are here: The Employee Activity Organization has compiled What's Cooking at BCD, a cookbook of recipes from faculty, staff and their friends and family. The 300-page cookbook is spiral-bound and is available for $8. Those interested can purchase the cookbook from Debi Villarreal in Room 102 or Gary Hornback in Room 105.
