Several new approaches to faculty development have recently been introduced at Baylor College of Dentistry. The programs, which provide information, encouragement, and professional development opportunities, have been made available to both students who are considering dental education as a career option and to faculty.
The HSC-Baylor College of Dentistry chapter of the Texas Association of Women Dentists participated in the 25th annual Komen Race for the Cure on Oct. 20 at Northpark Center in Dallas.
Faculty, staff support charitable campaign
The support of 110 faculty and staff members of HSC-Baylor College of Dentistry helped make the 2007 State Employee Charitable Campaign a success on the HSC-BCD campus. In all, nearly $24,000 was pledged to various local, state and national nonprofit organizations.
Holiday toy drive provides for local children
The faculty, staff and students of HSC-Baylor College of Dentistry helped make the holidays special for children in the care of Dallas County Child Protective Services through the Community Partners of Dallas’ annual toy drive.
For Ruest, eating pie is a piece of cake
Dr. Bruno Ruest, assistant professor in biomedical sciences, is “Forney’s Fastest Pie Eater.” A resident of Forney, Texas, Ruest entered the pie-eating contest at the community’s Christmas celebration Dec. 1 in downtown Forney, and out-ate 14 other contestants to win a 50-inch flat screen plasma TV.
