In case you missed the Nov. 19 Dallas Morning News article, two HSC-BCD faculty members have ample reason to be proud of their high-achieving daughter. Sarah Miller, daughter of Drs. Amp and Barbara Miller, was named a winner of Oxford University’s Rhodes Scholarship. According to the Dallas Morning News article, she plans to study astrophysics.
HSC-Baylor College of Dentistry will host Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins at 11:45 a.m. Feb. 20 in room 605. The event is sponsored by the college’s Student National Dental Association in recognition of Black History Month. Watkins’ presentation is open to faculty, staff, students and the public. The U.S. Navy will provide a complimentary lunch for the first 100 people who attend the program.

The Special Care Dentistry Association announces it will, for the first time ever, focus on clinical care with didactic and hands-on sessions during its 20th annual meeting March 14-16, 2008 in San Antonio.
The sessions will cover a variety of topics including continuum of care for the aging special-needs patient, oral and medical/physical conditions in disabled and/or older adults, clinical needs of patients with physical and cognitive disabilities, clinical care issues for high-risk patients, optimizing the team, maximizing the skills and training of dental hygienists, training the dental community to care for the aging special needs patient and direct care treatment techniques for the aged, cognitively impaired and medically compromised.
Special Care Dentistry Association is a unique international organization of oral health professionals and other individuals who are dedicated to promoting oral health and well being for people with special needs.

ObituariesSympathy is extended to the family of Willie L. Johnson, retired supervisor in environmental services, who passed away in December. Services were held Dec. 15 in Dallas.
