Dr. Claude Williams, community outreach director in communications and development, hosted the ninth annual Professional and Graduate School Seminar for local students as part of the Dr. Emmett J. Conrad Leadership Program July 11.
Held at Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry, the seminar allowed students to learn about the requirements, admissions process and costs associated with seeking graduate and professional degrees. Guest speakers from HSC-BCD, the University of North Texas, Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and the U.S. Army Reserve spoke candidly to the attending students regarding the particulars of a graduate education. Additionally, a panel of current and former graduate and professional school students shared their expertise with the crowd.
The leadership program is named in honor of the distinguished Dallas physician and educational advocate Dr. Emmett J. Conrad. The program serves to facilitate paid internship positions to Dallas-area college students within their particular fields of interest. The program is sponsored by state Sen. Royce West, who represents District 23 (Dallas County).
