The time is now to encourage RSVPs for Free Sealant and Prophy Day
Most Saturdays, the pediatric dentistry clinic exam chairs sit empty. Come Nov. 3, the second-floor space will be the center of activity for the Asian-American Dental Society’s Free Sealant and Prophy Day.
The biannual event, which runs from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., is geared toward children ages 6 through 14. Students, staff and faculty may encourage parents of any socioeconomic status to bring their children to the school for the free sealants and dental cleanings, but they must first make an appointment by calling 214-828-8400, ext. 4199 and leaving a voice mail.
Last fall, more than 100 children were treated during the six-hour community service event, made possible by help from multiple groups within Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry. Dental and dental hygiene students, clinical faculty, dispensary staff, and security and environmental services volunteer their time, and ADS alumni, Dallas Asian Dental Association members, and predental and high school students also typically pitch in to make the event a success.
