Honors

Dr. Jian “Jerry” Feng served as a presenter and co-chairman of the International Symposium on Tooth Development, which was July 10-11 at the West China School of Stomatology in Chengdu. The goal of the symposium was to highlight cutting-edge advances in all aspects of tooth development, including research in dentin, enamel and cementum, and to promote all levels of modern biomedical research, including basic, translational and clinical.

Presentations

Dr. Robert Hinton was an invited speaker at the 38th Annual Meeting of the Association for Dental Education in Europe, the European counterpart of the American Dental Education Association, which was Aug. 29-Sept. 1 in Lyon, France. His talk was titled “Evidence-Based Practice at Baylor College of Dentistry: The Road Traveled and the Road Ahead.”

Honors

The American Dental Association Council on Scientific Affairs named Dr. Jeffrey Rossmann to an expert panel titled the “Periodontal Clinical Recommendations Project,” which became effective at the 2012 ADA annual meeting in San Francisco.

Dr. Pilar Valderrama was nominated to become an ITI — International Team for Implantology — Fellow. She will give an oral presentation on Oct. 26 in Andover, Mass., as part of her nomination.

Appointments

Dr. David Kerns was named to the American Academy of Periodontology Committee on the Task Force for the Revised Accreditation Standards for Periodontics. The appointment became effective at the AAP meeting in Los Angeles, which was Sept. 29-October 2.

Drs. Miles Beach and Rossmann were reappointed to the Education Committee for the American Academy of Periodontology for 2012-2013. Appointments became effective at the AAP meeting in Los Angeles.
