Condolences

Gladies Brown

Sincere condolences are offered to Dr. Lavern Holyfield, associate professor and director in academic affairs, whose mother, Gladies Brown, passed away March 9. Funeral services were March 17 at Bright Star Baptist Church in Shreveport, La. 

 

Howard White

Howard White, retired dental equipment technician in facilities services, passed away March 11. White worked at the dental school from February 2003 until his retirement in May 2011. He played a major role in facilities during his time at the college.

Funeral services were March 14 at the Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory in McAlester, Okla. 

 

Juanita Williams

Juanita Williams, who retired in April 1999 as executive secretary in purchasing, passed away April 6. Williams, who contributed to the department and dental school for 10 years, started at the college in fall 1989. She was born in Jonesboro, Ark., and also lived in Missouri and Oklahoma.

Sincere condolences are offered to Williams’ family members, who have asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Adrenal Diseases Foundation.

Memorial services were April 11 at Central Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas.

 


Events

Join ASDA in the fight against cystic fibrosis

The American Student Dental Association will participate in the 2012 Great Strides 5K Walk, benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event will begin at 8 a.m. on May 19 at Fair Park in Dallas. To sign up, simply go to D3 Jonathan Patrick’s team page or the Great Strides registration page. 


Mark your calendars for 2012 Commencement

Graduation exercises will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas. Rep. Dan Branch of House District 108, who is chairman of the House Higher Education Committee, will be the keynote speaker.
