Nathaniel Spain, the college’s 1998 Employee of the Year, passed away Nov. 17. Spain retired in 1992, and after a brief hiatus, returned to the college in 1996 and worked as an anatomy lab assistant in biomedical sciences until 2007. Originally from Waxahachie, Texas, Spain served in the U.S. Army and Air Force, was a co-founder of Golden Gate Funeral Home and part owner of the Brass Rail. His son, Kevin Spain, became biomedical sciences anatomy lab assistant when his father retired. Funeral services were Nov. 26 at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas.


Sincere condolences are offered to Angela Hickman, clinical services manager in the Office of Clinical Affairs, whose son, Bryan Hickman, passed away Jan. 3. Funeral services were Jan. 9 at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, Texas.



AADR's Dallas Section meeting rescheduled for February

The American Association of Dental Research Dallas Section’s Jan. 18 meeting was rescheduled. The meeting, which will feature keynote speaker Dr. Rena D’Souza, professor and chair of biomedical sciences, is now slated for noon on Feb. 22 in Room 605.
