Dr. Patricia Blanton, professor emeritus, co-presented a series on odontogenic infection management to U.S. and European military dental officers at the 55th Annual Garmisch Dental Conference in Garmisch, Germany, from Oct. 16-22. Blanton presented with Dr. Roger Alexander, who also holds the professor emeritus title.
Blanton’s presentations included “The Anatomy of Dental Local Anesthesia" and "Anatomical Spread of Infection in the Head and Neck."
Dr. Karl Woodmansey,
On Oct. 1, the department welcomed Dr. Karl F. Woodmansey ’89, ’06 as a full-time faculty member. Woodmansey, who received his dental degree and certificate in endodontics from the college, also became a board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics earlier this year.
Woodmansey, who is from Bozeman, Mont., is an active contributor to the dental profession on a national level and has achieved fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the American College Health Association.

Alexander’s presentations included:
- "Initial Management of Odontogenic Infections in General Practice: Part 1”;
- “Part 2: Principles of Use of the Antibiotic Arsenal”;
- "Refuting the Most Common, Unproven Myths About Dentoalveolar Surgery"; and
- "Prevention, Recognition and Management of the Common Complications of Dentoalveolar Surgery."
