2011 SECC brings bake sales, pumpkin decorating to TAMHSC-BCD
The 2011 State Employee Charitable Campaign is well underway, and to commemorate the yearly initiative, faculty and staff at Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry have been busy this October with myriad events ranging from pumpkin decorating contests to coffee and bake sales.
The campaign kicked off Sept. 29 with a vendor fair on the sixth floor that gave TAMHSC-BCD employees the chance to learn more about some of the hundreds of charities they can opt to help through selecting automatic payroll deduction or one-time contributions by cash or check.
A Coffee Break & Bake sale the morning of Oct. 6 offered employees the opportunity to stock up on much-needed sweets and caffeine, and generated more than $300 for SECC charities.
Still to come is the Oct. 28 Pumpkin & Halloween Decoration Contest & Silent Auction. Those with a flair for creativity who want to show off that artistic side can simply drop off handmade Halloween decorations or carved or decorated pumpkins at the atrium starting at 8 a.m. Votes may be cast until 1 p.m. with a donation of 25 cents. All proceeds will go to an SECC charity.
While the special events at the dental school only last through September and October, employees can opt to give to charities for the entire 2012 calendar year through automatic payroll deduction. Pledges must be submitted by Oct. 31, 2011.
