The beginning of October marked the passing of Dr. James O. Henry Jr., assistant dean emeritus
Longtime Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry administrator Dr. James O. Henry Jr. passed away on Oct. 1. Henry had deep roots with the dental school, graduating in 1955 and eventually returning in an administrative capacity for more than two decades.
Henry, who served as a professor and assistant dean of student affairs from 1973 to 1998, retired as assistant dean emeritus.
Henry was born in Arkansas, but he lived in Dallas for much of his adult life. Before returning to the college, he practiced dentistry in Dallas for 16 years. He was no stranger to leadership roles, with six years as secretary-treasurer of the Texas Dental Association and 18 years as an American Dental Association delegate.
