The college offers sympathy to Odell Mitchell, trades technician in Facilities Services, whose brother, Samuel Mitchell, passed away Aug. 13.
Funeral services were Aug. 17 at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas.
The 2011 SECC starts Sept. 29
The 2011 State Employee Charitable Campaign starts Thursday, Sept. 29, with a vendor fair in the sixth floor foyer between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Representatives from more than 20 charities will be on hand to answer your questions if you're interested in learning more about how you can opt for a one-time donation or automatic payroll deduction for the next calendar year.
Other activities planned for the month include:
- a coffee and baked goods sale on Oct. 6;
- "Taste of BCD" food tasting event on Oct. 13; and
- a pumpkin decorating contest on Oct. 28.

Orthodontic gala rapidly approaching
The 50th Anniversary Symposium & Gala for the orthodontics department is Oct. 22. The event will start with a continental breakfast at the Stitch Davis Auditorium at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
It will continue with a luncheon and the opportunity to be enlightened by discussion chronicling the department’s history. Light orthodontic presentations will be a part of the day, which will conclude with a gala at the Park City Club.
Attendees will not leave empty handed — every participant will receive a hardbound, commemorative photo book.

The time is now to RSVP for Brauman-Bell Alpha Omega Lectureship
The 2011 Brauman-Bell Alpha Omega Lectureship at Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry will be Tuesday, Nov. 8. If you want to attend the lectureship and receive dental continuing education credits at no cost, RSVP by Oct. 31.
This year’s lectureship will feature a panel discussion that explores how collaborations among dentists and physicians yield improvement in overall patient-care outcomes. Guest speakers will include specialists from internal medicine, cardiology, blood and marrow transplant, radiation oncology, and periodontics.
A 4:30 p.m. reception on the sixth floor will precede the panel discussion, which begins at 5 p.m. in Room 605 and is open to faculty, staff, students, alumni and the general public. The program will conclude at 6:30 p.m. and will provide 1-1/2 hours of dental continuing education credits.
