Dr. Shankar Venugopalan, a former biomedical sciences Ph.D. student, was awarded the Harvard University Presidential Scholarship. The scholarship will cover a year of tuition for Venugopalan, who is working toward his Doctor of Medical Sciences certificate in orthodontics at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.


Dr. Robert Hinton attended the National Board Part I Test Construction Meeting for Anatomic Sciences in Chicago May 18-20.

Lisa Mallonee provided a two-hour continuing education course on May 18 titled “Healthy Mouth, Healthy Body, Healthy Practice” for the Greater Philadelphia Dental Hygiene Study Club.



Two faculty members received their certification from the American Board of Endodontics this spring. After successfully completing their oral exams, which were in San Antonio, Drs. Jianing He and Takashi Komabayashi were awarded diplomate status.



A number of faculty members represented the college at this year’s meeting of the American Association of Orthodontists, in Chicago May 13-17.

Dr. Jeffrey A. Rossmann was recently elected to the position of director of the American Board of Periodontology. He will begin his six-year term in fall 2011.
