Success of Student Research Group silent auction all in the details
Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry’s Student Research Group spared no detail for its April 27 silent auction. With vases of hand-picked flowers from Regents Professor Dr. Kathy Svoboda’s garden dotting the auction space, the many items up for bid sealed the event’s success.
Tamara Carrell, D4, collected most of the items used in the silent auction, which generated more than $2,700, including donations.
Auction items were incredibly diverse and ranged from general admission for two to the HP Byron Nelson Championship and Billy Bob’s Texas to Pilates classes and even an iPod nano. Of course, full/full denture set ups, electric toothbrushes and even a dentist Barbie were included in the mix.
Some other items up for bid included:
• VIP guest passes to the Nasher Sculpture Center;
• free dinner for two at Baker’s Ribs;
• Society Bakery $50 gift card;
• free haircut at Sport Clips;
• therapeutic gift basket;
• Dallas Symphony Texas Instruments Classical Series concert vouchers; and
• use of parking spot 41 from May 5 to 12.
This is not a complete list of the products and services that were up for bid, which included nearly 75 items from more than 40 donors.
Individuals who were unable to attend the silent auction can still contribute to Student Research Group’s members and mission via cash donations.
