D4 student Arthur Johnson II, a West Point graduate and veteran, says he always tries to lead from the front, whether he’s in a combat zone or attending dental school. Perhaps that drive for leadership is why he was chosen as the recipient of this year’s $1,500 Pierre Fauchard Academy Dental Student Scholarship.
Johnson, who hopes to become a leader in the dental profession, said the award will be used to cover expenses associated with education costs, his license and the National Board exam. In turn, this will help him devote more time to his studies and patients.
“I am truly grateful that Baylor College of Dentistry and the Pierre Fauchard Academy selected me, and I appreciate their generosity and support,” Johnson said.
As part of the scholarship program, officials from every dental school in the country may select one student to receive the award.
According to the foundation’s website, the selected student must be a junior and must plan to attend school the following year. Students are considered based on their integrity, imagination, initiative and leadership potential. Above-average academic performance is also a requirement.
