Darlene Amos - 25 Years
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
When Darlene Amos was hired as an executive secretary 25 years ago, she loved the people, working 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and getting two weeks off at Christmas. Since then, she’s seen increased paperwork, more rules and a lot of automation but one thing remains the same: she still enjoys her coworkers at Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry.
Today, Amos is an administrative assistant I in oral and maxillofacial surgery, where she serves as assistant to the department chair. As such, she helps with LeaveTraq, handles dictation for faculty, manages administrative projects and organizes the P. Earle Williams Lectureship each year.

“I really like the people in this department,” Amos says. “The benefits and time off aren’t bad either.”
When she isn’t at TAMHSC-BCD, Amos can be found at her grandsons’ baseball games. Otherwise, she’s likely outside or on family outings.
“I love to work in my yard and I like to go bowling with my family,” she says.
Amos and her husband, Bill, enjoy having their daughter, Rachael, live with them along with grandchildren Brian, Dylan and Allyssa. The Amoses also have two sons, both of whom are involved in health science professions. Michael lives in Beaumont, Texas, and works in prosthetics and orthotics and Joseph is a third-year resident in medicine and rehabilitation in Houston.
