Dr. Jayne Reuben presented a continuing education workshop on "New medications and pharmacovigilance" at the 2010 Oklahoma City Area Indian Health Service Annual Dental Meeting on June 18 in Tulsa, Okla.

Dental Hygiene

Lisa Mallonee presented a continuing education course titled "Healthy mouth, healthy body, healthy practice!" for the American Dental Hygienists' Association annual meeting in Las Vegas on June 24.

Lisa Mallonee has been chosen to be a content adviser for two position papers of the American Dietetic Association.  She will be advising on the "American Dietetic Association's position on oral health and nutrition" and the "American Dietetic Association's position on impact of fluoride on health."

On July 17 at the International Association for Dental Research meeting in Barcelona, Spain, Dr. Celeste Abraham presented her research abstract on "Inter-examiner evaluation of fluorescence in oral lesions."

Dr. Nancy Burkhart presented "Mucosal disease: which one is it?" at the annual session of the American Dental Hygienists' Association on June 24 in Las Vegas.

Planning & Assessment

Dr. Ann McCann gave an oral presentation at the International Association for Dental Research meeting in Barcelona, Spain, on "Creating an evidence-based culture through curricular innovation and faculty training."  Drs. Robert Hinton and Dan Jones were co-authors of the paper.

Public Health Sciences

At the National Oral Health Conference in St. Louis in April, Dr. Kenneth Bolin spoke about "Preventive treatment practices of third- and fourth-year dental students."  Co-authors of the subject materials were Drs. Vaishnavi Iyer and Hoda Abdellatif. 

At the International Association for Dental Research in Barcelona, Spain, Dr. Kenneth Bolin's abstract, "Job satisfaction indicators of dentists in community health centers," was accepted for presentation.

Dr. Kay Rankin was guest editor for "Oral health in cancer therapy" in the May 2010 Texas Dental Journal.

Dr. Kay Rankin received a $300,000 grant from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, effective 9/1/10-8/31/12, for "Collaborative tobacco cessation education at Texas dental school: core modules, electronic tobacco history and assessment."
