New appointments for Opperman
Dr. Lynne Opperman was elected co-chair of the Texas A&M Health Science Center Technology Commercialization Advisory Committee. Associate Vice President Dr. Jim Joyce is the appointed co-chair.
The TCAC provides advice and oversight to Dr. David S. Carlson, HSC vice president for research and graduate studies, for all matters relating to management of intellectual properties and commercialization at the HSC. The TCAC is composed of one or more members of the faculty and staff from each college or institute of the HSC who have significant experience or interest in development and advancement of intellectual property.
Opperman also was appointed by the president of the American Association of Anatomists to chair the group's 125th Anniversary Task Force. As chair, she will organize the program for the association's 125th annual meeting which will be held in Boston in 2013.
At HSC-Baylor College of Dentistry, Opperman recently was appointed by Dr. James S. Cole, dean, to serve as acting associate dean for research and graduate studies. She will serve in this position while Dr. Larry Bellinger is on medical leave.
