Table clinics as teaching tools
Students' turn to teach
It was a turn-about in roles that was ideal for the date - April 1...also known as April Fool's Day.
At the April gathering of the Dallas Dental Hygienists' Society the continuing education segment was presented by the senior dental hygiene students. DDHS members who attended the event, held at Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry, perused the students' table clinics. The membership also judged and awarded monetary awards for first, second and third place.
First place - Maria Ortega and Jenna Williams (mentor Patricia Campbell) for "Hypnosis in Dentistry"
Second place - Minoo Pirasteh and Anna Uglunts (mentor Kathleen Muzzin) for "Occupational Hearing Loss in the Dental Office"
Third place - Christine Stockholm and Briana Smith (mentor Marlaina Reich) for "Better than the Tooth Fairy: the Future of Dental Stem Cells"
Ester Ball, president of the Texas Dental Hygienists' Association, attended the meeting and provided a message and greetings from the state association.
