Laser Whitening

How does the new laser whitening procedure compare with the traditional bleaching techniques in effectiveness, cost, etc.

There are several methods available to the dental professional for bleaching teeth.  In-office bleaching systems generally use the same technique.  A high concentration of hydrogen peroxide  is applied to your teeth and then heated for several minutes.  The source of the heat is usually a special light.  Recently lasers have been used as a heat source or to activate the bleaching process.  Several visits to the dentist may be necessary to achieve the desired shade of whiteness with either the traditional or laser technique.

I haven't seen any independent studies indicating that the laser technique is more or less effective than the in-office, traditional bleaching technique.  Cost for either technique will vary depending on where you live.
