TAWD sends largest group yet to Race for the Cure
The Baylor College of Dentistry chapter of the Texas Association of Women Dentists sent its largest group yet and raised more than $1,800 for the Komen Dallas Race for the Cure Oct. 18.
A group of 30 participants – including TAWD members, HSC-BCD staff, friends and family – gathered at 6:30 a.m. to take part in the 26th annual race and fundraising event for breast cancer research. The TAWD race team met around a tooth-shaped sign adorned with pink ribbons and the college’s logo. The team carried the tooth sign throughout the race.
Before race day TAWD members had spent weeks raising money for the cause, and with great success. The team nearly doubled its $1,000 fundraising goal, and it was the third-highest fundraising group in the race’s school category.
Beyond raising money, TAWD members enjoyed spending time with their classmates and friends.
“We all got some good exercise and we got to know each other a little better,” says Abby Mann, D2 student and secretary/historian for TAWD. “Best of all, it was all for a great cause.”
